The series P_Vlog begins with a question posed by Songa, a 10-year-old North Korean YouTuber from the currently active YouTube channel Sary Voline (송아 Songa Vlog). Songa starts with the question, “Have you ever been to Pyongyang?” and introduces the affluent life in Pyongyang as well as the beautiful North Korean landscape and welfare. When I saw Songa’s warm and cozy-looking room in the video, I immediately thought it was fake, and Songa’s question felt like a sharp one coming directly at me. Inspired by this hard-to-describe feeling, I reconstruct the experiences from Songa’s channel in a space through a digital journey to Pyongyang. What “prior knowledge,” “awareness,” and “indirect experiences” did I have about Pyongyang, a place I have neither visited nor can visit? Where did they come from, and what is the truth?

P_VLOG floats as a fragment of material in a space. It symbolizes endless information and images in new tabs and windows on the digital screen. The individually edited images scatter around a wall into the room, blending together, and each voice collides in between.

시리즈<P_Vlog>는 최근 활발히 업로드되고 있는 북한의 유투브<Sary Voline(송아 SongA Vlog)> 의 한 10살 북한 소녀 유튜버 송아의 질문에서 시작한다. 송아는 ‘평양에 와 본 적 있어?’라는 질문을 시작으로 평양에서 유복한 생활과 아름다운 북한 풍경과 복지를 소개한다. 따스하고 아늑해 보이는 영상 속 송아의 방을 보자마자 단 번에 가짜 같다고 생각했던 내게 송아의 질문은 따끔한 질문 그 자체로 다가온다. 그 형용하기 어려운 감정을 모티브로, 디지털 평양 여행기를 통해 송아의 채널 속 경험을 공간 속에 재구현한다. 가본 적도, 가볼 수도 없는 평양에 대해 나는 어떤 ‘사전 지식’, ‘앎’, ‘간접경험’을 가지고 있었던 것일까? 그것은 어디서 왔고, 그리고 무엇이 진실일까?

<P_VLOG>는 하나의 소재로 한 공간에 파편적으로 유영한다. 이는 마치 디지털 화면 속 <새 탭, 새 창> 속 끊임없는 정보와 이미지를 은유한다. 윈도우 속 편집 된 개별 이미지들은 하나의 벽을 중심에서 공간으로 퍼지듯 흩어지고, 그 사이에서 뒤엉키며 각각의 목소리는 충돌한다.
